The Sixers on Friday night traveled to Washington and the Verizon Center to take on the Wizards in a game if the Sixers just play their game then they should win.  The Sixers really looked flat and just really did not show up to play against Washington and were just totally dominated from start to finish by the Wizards.  If as a team you come into a game in the NBA not ready to play and think that by showing up you will win the Sixers got a lesson with that theory.  They found out really quickly that any team in the NBA can beat another.  The Wizards defeated the Sixers, 97-76.

The loss with the Boston Celtics win over Minnesota on Friday night puts the Celtics one game behind the Sixers in the Atlantic Division.  The Sixers are 28-23 and the Boston Celtics are 29-22.

The Sixers at one point in Friday nights game were down by as many as 19 points.  The Sixers could not get any closer than 13 points in the fourth quarter.  This game looked like both teams switched uniforms before the game.  The Sixers were never in this game from the opening whistle to the last.  They were completely dominated in all aspects of the game.  Head Coach Doug Collins no doubt has to bee concern because his team just did not show up to play.

Washington was led by reserve guard Cartier Martin who had a career game with 20 points on the night.

The Sixers were led by Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young who had 14 points apiece.  Evan Turner had 11 points and Elton Brand had eight points and nine rebounds for the Philadelphia 76ers on the night.

The Sixers right now need to play better basketball at this point of the regular season as they try to prepare for the playoffs.  They have all season beaten the teams in which they were suppose to beat and they need to continue to do that as the regular season comes to an end.  At this point of the season is when you really find out what kind of team, leadership, and heart you have.  Let's see how this team responses from this disappointing lose to the Wizards.  Sixers fans will find out really quickly because the Sixers come back home Saturday night to the Wells Fargo Center and will take on a tough Atlanta Hawks team.  The Sixers need this win on Saturday night because on Tuesday night they will be going into Miami and playing the Heat.  The bad taste of Friday night needs to go away and go away quick.
