The Sixers Can Not Find The Answers In Boston
The Sixers were going into Boston and the TD Center to play the Atlantic Division leaders the Celtics. The Sixers were on a three game losing streak and looking to end that on Sunday. Their playoff hopes just barely alive and slipping from their finger tips. Well the 76ers were just absolutely taken apart by the Boston Celtics on Easter Sunday in Boston. The Celtics have been hot and playing very good basketball lately and they are a team in which noone wants to play right now. The Celtics continued that excellent play on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Sixers very easily, 103-79. It was the Sixers fourth consecutive lose and their 10th lose in the last 14 games and their season went from promising to almost completely falling apart right in front of them.
Forget about winning the Atlantic Division because the Sixers right now are just in survival mode and just trying to hold onto a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The New York Knicks with their win over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden moved past the struggling Sixers for the seventh spot and the Sixers have dropped to the eighth spot where they only hold a one game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks who are currently in the ninth spot. The Knicks also hold the tie breaker over the Sixers if the two teams end up tied at the end of the regular season.
The Sixers faced a Boston Celtics team on Sunday that is playing very good basketball right now and their confidence is at the highest it has been all season. They veterean team is felling it and has teams in the NBA that do not want to face them right now. The Celtics are 17-7 since the all star break and they are definitely going to be a tough out in the upcoming playoffs.
In Sunday's game the Sixers ere having major problems again scoring points and something really needs to be done with the starting lineup because they are not producing right now. The inconsistency has been the major problem and the reason why this team has lost this many games in this current streak. The Sixers on Sunday as a team shot 29-for-76 for a 38.2 percentage from the field. The Sixers did get a good performance from rookie Nikola Vucevie who had 14 points and 13 rebounds on a otherwise really bad day for the team. Andre Iguodala had 13 points and Evan Turner scored 10 points for the Sixers.
The Boston Celtics shoot 58.9 percent from the field in the game and they were led by Kevin Garnett who had 20 points. Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley each had 18 points apiece and Paul Pierce had 17 points. Celtics guard Rajon Rondo had 15 assists as well in the game.
There are ten games left in the regular season. The Sixers have to figure this out because this season is starting to slip away from their grasps very quickly. The season is on the line right now. It is just amazing that three weeks ago this team was in first place in the Atlantic Division and today they are hanging on to a playoff spot by just a hair and could very well fall out of the playoffs this week. It just appears that this team is just out of gas and they need that one superstar, go to guy to when the game is on the line.
The Sixers play the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday in New Jersey and then the next night play the Toronto Raptors in Toronto. They need to take one game at a time and end this losing streak and stop the bleeding and get a much needed win. The season right now is depending on it.
