The Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night went into Edmonton and again lost to the Edmonton Oilers.  The Flyers again last night did not play a complete hockey game and the Oilers defeated the Flyers 2-0.  The Flyers in their two trips into Edmonton this season have not scored a goal.  This was a tough lose for the Flyers but they must just look ahead because there is plenty of hockey left to play on this road trip.

The Flyers in Edmonton for the second time this season left the same way they did the first time.  They were kept off the scoreboard again.  The Flyers have not scored a goal in Edmonton since 2007, when former Flyer Simon Gagne was the last to do so on October 6, 2007.  The Flyers have not won in Edmonton since 2001 and that is a while.

The Flyers last night faced another hot goaltender in the Edmonton Oilers Devan Dubuyk who made some very important saves and held the Flyers off the scoreboard.  The Flyers have not been able to win back-to-back games since mid January and that has got to be a concern for the coaching staff.  The team again is struggling to score goals, this has been a problem during some stretches of this season.

The goaltending for the Flyers was not the problem in this game.  Ilya Bryzgalov did let one weak goal by but other than that he played one of his better games.  He stopped a penalty shot by the Oilers Shawn Hovcoft late in the third period which kept the Flyers hopes in the game alive.  The Flyers had 35 shots on Hovcoft but he was excellent for Edmonton.

The Flyers travel to Calgary on Saturday night to take on the Flames on this current ten day road trip which is the longest of this season.  The Flyers have played really well on the road this season and they are one of the best road teams in the NHL.  It is very important right now for the Flyers to get as many points as possible as they push towards the playoffs.  The Flyers do need to play a complete hockey game and they need to do it in stretches now.  The Flyers will also need to have good goaltending as well.
