The Sixers on Wednesday night hosted the San Antonio Spurs at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia. Tony Parker, the veteran point guard for the Spurs lead the Spurs on this night with a game high 37 points as the Spurs defeated the Sixers, 100-90 in front of a sellout crowd. Parker's 37 points is the most by any player has scored against the Philadelphia 76ers all season.
The Sixers are 18-8 on the season and last night they played without center Spencer Hawes. The San Antonio Spurs are 18-9 overall and they played without guard Manu Ginobili, who was out with a broken hand and he has been out for almost a month.
Tony Parker scored 21 of his points in the second half and he single handedly helped the Spurs win this game against the Sixers. Parker was also 13 for 13 from the free throw line and he also dished out eight assists.
Andre Iguodala had 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the game for the Sixers. He did give the Sixers a 51-50 lead in the third quarter but the Spurs quickly got the lead back and never lost it the rest of the game. The Spurs stretched the lead to as many as ten points later in the third quarter. The Sixers were able to cut into the Spurs lead and got to within five points but got no closer than that the rest of the night.
Lou Williams led the Sixers with 22 points and Elton Brand had 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Sixers are 0-5 this season when they give up at least 100 points. The Los Angeles Clippers, one of the surprise teams in the NBA thus far this season come into the Wells Fargo Center on Friday night. This should be another test for the Sixers to see where they stand.
