Sixers Need Break After Another Loss
The Sixers on Wednesday night went into Houston looking to end a four game losing streak and go into the All Star break on a high note. Well the Sixers streak went to five straight loses after the Rockets defeated the Sixers, 93-87 and the Sixers go into the break needing to get some rest and to also regroup. The Sixers still lead the Atlantic Division over the New York Knicks by three games.
The Sixers again started another game slowly on the offensive side. They finished the game playing poor defense as well as the Houston Rockets pulled out the victory in the fourth quarter and the Sixers let another opportunity to end the streak get away from them.
The Sixers had a 75-70 lead with 7 minutes, 27 seconds left in the game. The Sixers let this game get away and they can blame their defense for this one. The defensive play has helped them win 20 games thus far this season. It really looks like the Sixers are tired and the break could not have come at a better time.
Cardinal Dougherty and former Villanova Wildcat star Kyle Lowry helped put the game away with two three point plays in the final two minutes of the game.
Sixers rookie Nikola Vucevic had a career-high 18 points to lead the Sixers. Lou Williams had 17 points and Thaddeus Young had 15 points. Jodie Meeks had 14 points and Andre Iguodala had 11 points.
Luis Scola led Houston with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Kyle Lowry had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assits.
The Sixers need to get away for a few days. Relax and not think about basketball. The Sixers play in Detroit on Tuesday against the Pistons. They need to get back to winning games. Tuesday night will be a big game for this team. They need to end the losing streak and they need to get back to their winning ways in which got them to the 2o wins they have this season.
