The Philadelphia 76ers on Monday Night were starting a stretch of seven straight games at home at the Wells Fargo Center.  They certainly wanted to get the home stand off to the right start with a win against the lowly Washington Wizards especially after the lose on Saturday Night down in Miami against the Heat.  The Sixers played shorthanded on Monday Night.  Head Coach Doug Collins had to coach with a short bench but it was only the Washington Wizards.

The Sixers came out and took it right to the Wizards and there was no let down.  The Sixers did what they had to do against a 2-14 Wizards team and that was to take their will out of the game early.  The Sixers cruised to a 103-83 victory and improved their record to 12-5 on the season and they lead the Atlantic Division by 4.5 games over the Boston Celtics.

Elton Brand who was playing with a stomach virus lead the Sixers in scoring with 17 points along with Jrue Holiday who also scored 17 points as well.  Former Temple guard Lavoy Allen had 10 points and six rebounds on the night as well

The Sixers did have plenty of energy from the very beginning of the game.  The Sixers took care of business and buried the Wizards when they very well could of played down to their opponent this night. In the first half the  team played probably there best half all season long.  They played well at both ends of the court.  The team shot 65 percent from the field in the first half and led the Wizards by 30 points at halftime.

The Sixers improved their home record on the season to 8-1 and they will now get plenty of home cooking with six more straight games remaining on this home stand at the Wells Fargo Center.  The team needs to take advantage of these stretch of home games and need to make home court an advantage.

The Sixers on Monday Night had balanced scoring with six players in double figures.  Andre Iguodala scored only seven points but had seven rebounds and 11 assists.  Jodie Meeks scored 15 points, Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young had 14 points each.  The Sixers just had seven turnovers in the game.

The Sixers are playing very good basketball right now.  They are a well coached team by Doug Collins.  They need to continue to play good defense.  The team will win big basketball games with their defense.  The team is believing they can play with anyone. Winning does that and gives a team confidence.  This team is playing with confidence.  Can it continue, yes by playing total team basketball.
